5 Directions for Drew McIntyre and CM Punk’s feud following scathing WWE promo

Must read

Drew McIntyre shared a video today on social media following his attack on CM Punk this past Friday night on WWE SmackDown. Punk cost McIntyre his shot at the World Heavyweight Championship at Clash at the Castle, and The Scottish Warrior claimed to quit the company in the following episode of RAW.

However, McIntyre did not quit and instead plotted to get revenge on the 45-year-old. He showed up on SmackDown and brutally attacked Punk backstage. McIntyre’s video today showed no remorse, and he claimed to find solace in knowing Punk was in pain because of him.

Listed below are five possible directions for CM Punk and Drew McIntyre’s feud moving forward.

#5. Drew McIntyre could emerge victorious at WWE Money in the Bank

Drew McIntyre will compete against Sheamus and Ilja Dragunov in a Triple Threat match next Monday night on WWE RAW. The winner of the match will qualify for the Men’s Money in the Bank Ladder match on July 6.

McIntyre could win the match and go on to win the Money in the Bank Ladder match after taking CM Punk out. The former AEW star may be in too much pain to show up anytime soon, and McIntyre could capture the Money in the Bank contract in the meantime.

#4. CM Punk could get revenge on Drew McIntyre on WWE RAW

While CM Punk was taken out in an ambulance on WWE SmackDown, the veteran could already be on the mend following the attack by McIntyre. Punk could make a surprise appearance during the Triple Threat Money in the Bank Qualifying match next Monday night and cost McIntyre again.

This would make the rivalry even more personal and may lead to McIntyre completely losing it. McIntyre’s obsession with The Second City Saint could reach a new level if Punk costs him another opportunity on WWE RAW.

#3. AJ Lee could make an appearance to speak with Drew McIntyre

AJ Lee is married to CM Punk in real life, and Drew McIntyre has already name-dropped her in his rivalry with the former AEW Champion. McIntyre claimed he could steal Lee away from Punk if he wasn’t already married and recently stole a bracelet from the veteran with her name on it.

Lee could return to WWE television in the coming weeks to plead with McIntyre to leave her husband alone. However, it could also be a plot by Punk to distract his rival and catch him off guard with an attack of his own.

#2. Drew McIntyre could fail on his own at Money in the Bank

Drew McIntyre’s obsession with CM Punk cost him greatly at WWE WrestleMania XL. He defeated Seth Rollins to capture the World Heavyweight Championship during the opening match of Night Two of The Show of Shows.

However, he decided to taunt CM Punk while he was on commentary, and the latter responded by attacking him. Damian Priest finally cashed in his Money in the Bank contract to take the title from McIntyre only a few minutes after he won it.

If McIntyre were to qualify for the Men’s Ladder match at WWE Money in the Bank on July 6, he might become distracted by fans chanting for CM Punk. The 39-year-old could let the chants get in his head, and it could cost him the match at the premium live event in Toronto next month.

#1. CM Punk could chase McIntyre for the World Heavyweight Championship when he returns

CM Punk has never headlined a WrestleMania event in his career and appeared destined to do so this year. However, he tore his triceps at Royal Rumble and still has not been able to return to action.

Drew McIntyre could win the Money in the Bank Ladder match and cash in on the same night to become the new World Heavyweight Champion. Punk would then have to work his way up the card when he returns to earn a title match against McIntyre. The two stars could have an extended rivalry culminating in a main event match at WWE WrestleMania 41 next year in Las Vegas.
