Box score, stats, game summary and more ft. Chandler Fields

Must read

Louisiana completed another 10-win season as a warm-up for their appearance in the Sun Belt Conference title game, besting UL-Monroe 30-16 on Saturday. UL-Monroe was thwarted in seeking bowl eligibility in both teams’ regular-season finales.

Louisiana managed to win without QB Ben Woolridge, who previously suffered a broken collarbone, and backup Chandler Fields took over and picked up the victory.

Louisiana (10-2, 7-1 in Sun Belt) has already clinched its division and will face either Marshall or Georgia Southern in the SBC title game. The Ragin’ Cajuns posted three consecutive 10-win seasons from 2019 through 2021. UL-Monroe (5-7, 3-5) has only appeared in one bowl game and will not appear in one for 2024 despite a 5-1 start.

Louisiana-Monroe scored first on a short field goal, but after a turnover, Zylan Perry gave Louisiana the lead with a one-yard TD score late in the first quarter. ULM took the advantage back on a seven-yard pass from QB Aidan Armenta to Tyler Griffin. But an 88-yard drive from Louisiana reclaimed the lead on a six-yard pass to Lance LeGenre from Fields. Louisiana never trailed again.

ULM made a long field goal to tie the game just before the half, but Louisiana leaped to a 30-16 lead in the fourth quarter. The Warhawks cut the lead to 30-23 on an eight-yard run by Ahmad Hardy, but could not pull any closer.

Again, Louisiana moves on to the Sun Belt conference title game and then a bowl. Louisiana-Monroe came up a game short of bowl eligibility.
