The New York Giants kicked off their 100th season celebration on Monday morning by unveiling a commemorative logo, which will be worn as a patch on their uniforms this fall.

The logo was inspired by shape of the Polo Grounds, the Giants’ home from 1925-55, while the No. 100 at the center of the design was influenced by their primary logo and the shape of Giants Stadium, their home from 1976-2009.

At the base of the logo is a recreation of their 1950-55 mark, which features a player throwing a football while wearing a winged helmet. There’s also a football with eight laces, symbolizing New York’s eight NFL championships.

The red “SEASONS” ribbon across the middle is pulled from the single red stripe down the center of the Giants’ helmets, while the ends of the ribbon mimic the cuff and collar design on their 1980-99 throwback uniforms.

“As we reflect on this landmark season, I think about my family, and most specifically my father, grandfather and uncle who dedicated their entire lives to the Giants and the NFL,” Giants president and CEO John Mara said. “We would not be who we are without their vision and leadership.”

The Giants will also recognize the 18 years they played at Yankee Stadium (1956-73) by giving an Eli Manning bobblehead to the first 18,000 fans to arrive at the New York Yankees’ Aug. 4 game against the Toronto Blue Jays.

Additionally, the Giants are set to unveil 1933 throwback uniforms this summer. They notably feature red jerseys with white numbers contained within a horizontal blue stripe that goes across the chest and around the back.

Sources have indicated the jerseys will be paired with a blue helmet featuring red faux-leather decals. The 100th season logo suggests it’ll be a winged design more reminiscent of their 1937-47 look, however.
