A’ja Wilson drops reaction to Aces’ “BAM!” tweet for record-breaking evening

Must read

A’ja Wilson had a hilarious reaction to the Las Vegas Aces’ tweet following her record-breaking evening vs the Indiana Fever at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Wednesday (Sep. 11). The Aces’ social media handle congratulated the 2x WNBA champion for breaking the single-season scoring record, and added a cheeky reference to Bam Adebayo while at it.

For context, both Miami Heat’s Adebayo and Wilson have been rumored to be dating since the time they were spotted together during the prep camp for the 2024 Paris Olympics. Now, the Vegas social media team seemingly referred to the duo in their latest tweet, and Wilson’s reaction had social media in splits.

The rumor mills and the chuckles aside, Wilson was a force on Wednesday, racking up a 27-point double-double studded with 12 rebounds. Her efforts saw her decimate the WNBA single-season scoring record by scoring her 941st point of the year, surpassing the 939 points that Seattle Storm star guard Jewell Loyd set last year.

The icing on the cake for A’ja Wilson was an 86-75 dub that saw the Aces get better ahead of their playoffs campaign.

“She deserves her flowers now”: Alysha Clark lavishes praise on A’ja Wilson after magnificent performance vs Fever

Such was A’ja Wilson’s dominance that the Indiana Fever had no answer to stop the 2x WNBA MVP on Wednesday. In the postgame conference, the forward was a picture of emotion, and comforting her was her teammate Alysha Clark. The latter also heaped lavish praise on Wilson. She tweeted:

“She deserves her flowers now. Not later. What’s she’s doing is special…and what makes it even better is SHE is special. I love you big big”

Wilson is averaging 27.3 points on 52.1% shooting from the field. She is on the path to the highest single-season average in WNBA history. In addition to being a double-double metronome, she has been an elite defender as the reigning 2x DPOY.

The win now puts the Las Vegas Aces back on track as bonafide title contenders, although they have been far from the clinical unit they were the last two seasons.

Much of their title hopes depend on A’ja Wilson. If the forward can carry her rich vein of form to the playoffs, the Aces will surely fancy their chances in the marquee WNBA Finals. Only time will tell how the rest of the season will pan out for the Las Vegas star.
