Chelsea are reportedly open to sending Mykhaylo Mudryk on loan in the upcoming January transfer window. His representatives are also working on a solution to get him regular playing time.
Mudryk arrived at Stamford Bridge from Shakhtar Donetsk for a reported fee of €100 million in January 2024. However, he’s failed to live up to the expectations so far, scoring just seven goals and providing five assists in 62 games. He had a poor first six months before showing signs of some upturn in form under Mauricio Pochettino last season.
Mudryk, 23, has made four appearances across competitions this season for the west London side, starting in three of them. However, he’s provided just one assist so far. With plenty of competition in the winger position at Chelsea, the Ukrainian could see his playing time reduce if his form doesn’t get better.
As per journalist Simon Phillips (via Chelsea FC Latest News), the Blues are now open to letting Mudryk leave on loan in the January transfer window. His current contract expires in 2031 so a sale is unlikely. The final decision, though, will depend on how he fares in the next few games under Enzo Maresca.
Chelsea star opens up about a transfer offer he considered this summer
Defender Wesley Fofana has revealed that he received a transfer offer from Olympique Marseille in the summer. He said that he considered it as he’s a Marseille supporter but eventually decided to stay at Stamford Bridge.
The Frenchman said (via Metro):
“I had a conversation that really touched me. I would be lying if I said I didn’t weigh it up. It was from [Mehdi] Benatia, Marseille’s sporting director. It touched me and I think everyone knows why.
“I thought about it but there you go, the current objective is to succeed at Chelsea, to try and play regularly, and to establish myself at my club.”
When asked about potentially joining Marseille in the future, Fofana added:
“OM, we’ll see one day. I still have a contract until 2029 and we’ll see after that. I have never hidden it, [Marseille] is my city, my club, I am an OM supporter. We’ll see if I end up being at Marseille in a few years, or if I stay at Chelsea for the rest of my career.”
The Blues signed Fofana from Leicester City in the summer of 2022 for a big fee of €80 million. However, injury issues have restricted him to just 23 appearances so far. He has started all three Premier League games this season, though.
