K-pop boy group Stray Kids will release its second Japanese full-length album “GIANT” next month.
The group’s agency JYP Entertainment recently announced the group’s new release, sharing teaser photos of the upcoming album.
The new album comes about a year and nine months after the group’s first Japanese full-length album, “THE SOUND,” which was released in February last year.
After making its official debut in Japan on the 2020 compilation album “SKZ2020,” the group has established a strong presence in the country, with its releases topping various Japanese charts like Oricon, Tower Records and Billboard Japan.
“As the group is enjoying massive popularity in the country, eyes are on the new music and performances these artists will showcase through their latest work,” the agency said in the release.
The group recently released the mini-album “ATE” in July, garnering success with its lead single “Chk Chk Boom.” The song earned the group’s best record on Billboard Hot 100, landing on no. 49. “ATE” became the group’s fifth album to top the Billboard 200 chart, following “ODDINARY,” “MAXIDENT,” “5-STAR,” and “Rock-Star.”
The music video for “Chk Chk Boom” surpassed 100 million views on YouTube late last month, leading the group to hold a total of 15 videos with the view count.
Stray Kids recently kicked off its new world tour “Stray Kids World Tourwith four concerts in Seoul, held on Aug. 24, 25 and 31 and Sept. 1 at KSPO Dome in Songpa District. The group successfully made its stop in Singapore on Sept. 28 and will be touring Australia this month, Taiwan, Japan, the Philippines and Macao in November, Thailand and Indonesia in December and Hong Kong in January.
The group is also slated to perform on the American Music Awards’ 50th Anniversary Special, a two-hour broadcast show set for Oct. 6. This makes the group the second K-pop act to perform for the awards, following BTS.
