All the New NHL Logos and Uniforms for 2024-25 – SportsLogos.Net News

The 2024-25 NHL season is underway, and with it came a few surprisingly big changes to team logos and uniforms. But I must caution: If you were looking for anything other than a return to the ’90s, you might be disappointed.

Before we hit up the what the teams did, we’ll quickly look at the new Fanatics on-ice jerseys, which replaces Adidas who had been providing the league’s jerseys since 2017.

The overall design remains familiar to fans but with a few subtle changes. One of the most noticeable updates is the new shoulder fabric, which no longer features the dimpled texture seen on the Adidas jerseys. Another change is the NHL shield on the collar, now with a holographic-style finish. Inside the jerseys, Fanatics added an extra layer of fabric on the lower sleeve to reduce wear and tear caused by contact with the boards during gameplay. Fans will also notice the replacement of the Adidas logo with the Fanatics branding on the back. Anaheim Ducks

The Anaheim Ducks have revived their original “Wild Wing” goalie mask logo, first introduced in 1993, now with a modernized design and a new colour scheme for the 2024-25 season. The updated version features a sharper, more aggressive look with bolder lines, a prominent orange eye, and simplified detailing throughout the mask. The crossed hockey sticks remain part of the design but now have more defined edges, updated tape detailing, and continue to form a subtle “WW” shape as a nod to the team’s mascot. The triangle behind the mask, previously jade, is now gold.

The Ducks have also updated their “D” logo, which has been used since 2006. The new version condenses the original logo, removing extra lines and elements that gave it a bulkier look. The Ducks will wear this on the shoulders of each of their uniforms, shifting it from the chest where its previous incarnation had lived for over a decade.

The new uniforms are where the Ducks show their total commitment to orange as their primary colour — a connection to Orange County. The home uniform features an orange jersey, orange helmet, orange pants, and orange socks, with black, gold, and white striping. The straight stripe pattern runs across the waist and diagonally down the sleeves, evoking the design of the original Mighty Ducks uniforms. On the road, the jerseys are white with orange accents, including an orange shoulder yoke, orange pants, and white helmets, giving the set a distinctive and unified appearance both at home and on the road.

The Ducks have introduced a new custom typeface for player names and numbers, inspired by the citrus industry that historically thrived in the region and the Art Deco architecture found throughout Orange County. The home jerseys feature white numbers with gold and black drop shadowing, while the road jerseys display orange numbers with the same shadowing effect, ensuring visibility and style.

Anaheim’s new orange has been deepened compared to what they wore last season; it now matches the shade used by the Edmonton Oilers and Philadelphia Flyers. Gold, black, and white remain, while silver has been eliminated.


Utah Hockey Club

The Utah Hockey Club is the NHL’s newest addition, filling the void left by the Arizona Coyotes (while also using the same roster). As you’d hope, the name is temporary while the team works on choosing something permanent for 2025-26.

The temporary identity is built around the colours “Rock Black,” “Salt White,” and “Mountain Blue,” representing the state’s volcanic rock formations, snow-covered peaks, and rich winter sports history. The primary logo features “UTAH” in large black letters within a blue circle, with “HOCKEY CLUB” above and below. Another version of the primary logo shows “UTAH” in black across a blue rectangle. Two alternate logos were also released: one features a simple wordmark with “UTAH” above a blue and black line, while the other displays the state outline with the team name in blue. These simple, clean logos were designed to accommodate the short turnaround time between the announcement of the team and its debut in the NHL.

The home uniforms for Utah are black with “UTAH” in white, diagonal, Rangers-style letters across the chest and blue trim. The sleeves feature a blue-white-blue stripe pattern, while two horizontal stripes—one blue and one white—run around the waist. Player numbers are white with blue trim, and the collar is black with blue and white stripes. On the road, Utah wears white jerseys with black “UTAH” lettering trimmed in blue, paired with a full blue collar and striping in black and blue around the waist and sleeves. Both home and road sets carry their special inaugural season patch on their left and right shoulders.

Utah is working with Doubleday & Cartwright to develop their forever look, a Brooklyn-based firm that has previously worked with Inter Miami CF, the Milwaukee Bucks, and Utah’s NBA team, the Jazz.


Los Angeles Kings

The Los Angeles Kings are turning back the clock to the 1990s for their uniforms this season, reviving a look similar to what the team wore during the Wayne Gretzky era. The home uniform will be black with large silver and white stripes around the waist and sleeves, while the road uniform mirrors this in white with black and silver. Both sets feature consistency in their striping, which had been missing since 2011.

The Kings have also introduced an updated primary logo based on the “Bowtie” (or “Chevrolet”) logo from the same late 1980s and 1990s era. The new version includes changes to the typeface and a new crown at the bottom, inspired by the team’s original 1967 sweater crest. The logo shape has also been adjusted to be more vertical, creating a sleeker, more modern look.

The silver accents in the uniform striping, player numbers, and crest all feature a sparkling texture reminiscent of the treatment seen on the Vegas Golden Knights’ gold jerseys. Another noticeable change from the original 1990s look is the placement of the player numbers, which now appear near the shoulders instead of within the stripes. The crest on the front of both uniforms is also larger than before, giving it more prominence on the ice. At home, the Kings will wear a matte black helmet, the first NHL team to do so full-time.

The Kings’ released a series of additional alternate and secondary logos, including just the 1967 crown on its own and a series of new wordmark logos with a descending “K,” a subtle nod to the team’s original 1967 logo.


Washington Capitals

The Washington Capitals have brought back their iconic “Screaming Eagle” design for the 2024-25 season as part of their 50th anniversary celebration. This special edition uniform, not to be confused with a permanent third jersey, will only be worn for one season. The design is essentially a revival of the Reverse Retro 2.0 uniform from 2022-23, combining the late-1990s “Screagle” logo with the team’s black and bronze colour scheme from that same era. The shoulder patch also returns, featuring the U.S. Capitol building with two crossed hockey sticks.

The Capitals first introduced the Screaming Eagle on June 22, 1995, alongside a complete rebranding that shifted away from their original red, white, and blue colours. Washington will wear the black and bronze uniforms for six home games during the season, beginning on November 6 against Nashville.

In addition to the throwback uniform, the Capitals will also be sporting a special 50th anniversary logo for the season designed by FANBRANDZ. It draws on several elements from the Capitals’ original 1974 branding, including lowercase lettering, red and blue stars, and a hockey stick with a puck on its blade. A slightly altered version of the anniversary logo will appear, featuring navy blue and red colours to match the Capitals’ current palette.


Chicago Blackhawks

The Chicago Blackhawks will be sporting a new jersey sponsor this season, with Circa Sports appearing on the home uniforms. But the bigger news is their upcoming appearance in the 2025 Winter Classic, where they’ll face the St. Louis Blues at Wrigley Field. The Blackhawks’ Winter Classic uniform, leaked last month, will feature a unique blend of past design elements, with a red jersey bearing bold black and beige horizontal stripes inspired by their multi-striped uniforms from decades past. The team’s primary logo will be set within a circular crest on the chest, surrounded by four six-pointed Chicago stars.


Boston Bruins

The Boston Bruins are returning to their previous uniforms after celebrating their centennial last year with special uniforms. The home and road sets are unchanged from what was worn in 2022-23, but the third jersey is no longer included in the lineup.

Personally, I’ll be keeping an eye on December 1st, the 100th anniversary of the Bruins’ first-ever game, during which I’d expect the Bruins to wear something special.


Columbus Blue Jackets

The Columbus Blue Jackets will wear a special helmet sticker throughout the 2024-25 season in memory of Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau, who tragically passed away earlier this year. The sticker will feature “GAUDREAU” with two doves and the numbers 13 and 21, representing Johnny’s number with the Blue Jackets and Matthew’s number during his time at Boston College. In addition to the sticker, the Blue Jackets will add a jersey patch with Johnny’s No. 13 for their first regular season game, with all fans attending the home opener receiving a matching patch.

Columbus will also play in the 2025 Stadium Series game against the Detroit Red Wings at Ohio Stadium. While the uniforms for that game have yet to be revealed, the Stadium Series is known for its experimental, bold designs, which we will surely see again in 2025.


New Ad Patches

Outdoor Games

There will be two outdoor games in the NHL this year. The first is the 2025 Winter Classic, which will be played at Chicago’s Wrigley Field between the Blackhawks and St. Louis Blues. The logo draws inspiration from Chicago’s iconic Wrigley Field marquee, featuring the red sign at the centre of the design, flanked by Wrigley’s familiar bricks and ivy to reflect the stadium’s character. The logo notably omits the year, probably because the game will be played on New Year’s Eve in 2024 rather than in the 2025 calendar year. No uniforms have been unveiled yet, but we saw a leaked Blackhawks jersey featured earlier in this post.

This season’s second and last outdoor game is the 2025 Stadium Series, which will be held at Ohio Stadium between the Columbus Blue Jackets and Detroit Red Wings. The logo is themed around Ohio State University, with the Horseshoe shape of Ohio Stadium and the top of its scoreboard incorporated into the design.


2025 NHL All-Star Game

Instead of a traditional All-Star Game this year, the NHL will conduct a mini four-team tournament consisting of the league’s best players from four nations: Canada, Finland, Sweden, and the United States. This tournament will be known as the 4 Nations Face-Off. The 2025 4 Nations Face-Off logo is a blue oval with the event name across the front. The number 4 is blue, white, red, and yellow, as is a puck in the lower right and the trailing lines behind it. The abbreviated names of the four nations competing, Canada, Finland, Sweden, and the USA, appear at the bottom in their respective colours. This mini-tournament will be played in February 2025.

As always, if your team isn’t up here, they didn’t do anything. A few teams updated their helmet ads, but I couldn’t bring myself to go through each one. It’s bad enough I’ve got to dedicate space to the jersey ads.
