LISA (Lalisa Manobal), best known as a member of superstar K-pop girl group BLACKPINK, and her company LLOUD Co. have struck up a new partnership with RCA Records.
Under the deal, LISA will release new solo music via Sony Music-owned RCA, and according to the press release, will “have full ownership of all her recordings”.
RCA Records is also the label home to artists including A$AP Rocky, Becky G, Doja Cat, Foo Fighters, Justin Timberlake, KAYTRANADA, Latto, Mark Ronson, P!NK, Steve Lacy, SZA, Tems, Tate McRae, Victoria Monet, WizKid, and many more.
LISA and LLOUD Co.’s partnership with RCA follows the news in January that the individual members of BLACKPINK had decided not to renew their separate individual contracts with K-Pop company YG Entertainment.
They renewed their contracts with YG Entertainment for their group activities in December.
RCA describes BLACKPINK as “one of the most popular girl groups in history”.
Launched by YG Entertainment in August 2016, BLACKPINK made history as the first K-Pop act to headline Coachella.
The group has built a dedicated fanbase, with nearly 20 million monthly listeners on Spotify, and over 93 million YouTube subscribers
Beyond her success with BLACKPINK, LISA has broken several records globally as a solo artist. With the release of Lalisa in 2021, she was the first female artist to sell nearly 750,000 copies in the first week in South Korea.
Lalisa and Money charted in the Top 10 of the Billboard Global 200, while Money also holds the record as the longest-charting song by a solo female K-pop artist on the Billboard Hot 100 in the US and on the UK Singles Chart.
Meanwhile, LISA broke three Guinness World Records in 2023 as the most Instagram followers for a K-pop artist (currently at 102 Million followers on the platform), she is also the first solo K-pop winner at both the MTV Video Music Awards and the MTV European Music Awards.
Outside of music, LISA is set to star in the upcoming season of the hit HBO Original series, The White Lotus, season 3.
