Week 2 of the 2024-25 NFL season kicked off with a treat, as the Miami Dolphins wore the home version of their 1966 throwback uniforms in a loss to the Buffalo Bills on Thursday night. But that’s not the only uniform-related news from this weekend, so we’re debuting article that keeps track of it all in one place.
With that, one trend that stands out is the number of teams that will be wearing white jerseys and white pants at home, including the Jacksonville Jaguars against the Cleveland Browns, Carolina Panthers against the Los Angeles Chargers, Tennessee Titans against the New York Jets and Houston Texans against the Chicago Bears.
The Denver Broncos will also wear white jerseys at home against the Pittsburgh Steelers, though they – as of this writing early Sunday morning – have not yet announced if they’ll be paired with white, orange or blue pants this afternoon.
Additionally, the Indianapolis Colts (at the Green Bay Packers), New York Giants (at the Washington Commanders), Cincinnati Bengals (at the Kansas City Chiefs) and Atlanta Falcons (at the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday Night Football) will wear white jerseys over white pants as the road team.
Meanwhile, the Commanders will counter the Giants’ lack of color by debuting their new gold pants. They haven’t worn gold pants since 2018, as they donned white or burgundy pants as the Washington Football Team and only unveiled burgundy, white or black pants options as part of their rebrand in 2022.
Most teams are sticking with their home or road jerseys this weekend, though the Los Angeles Rams will don their bone-colored alternate jerseys at the Arizona Cardinals and the Bears will wear their orange alternate helmets and jerseys at the Texans on Sunday Night Football.
The New England Patriots, meanwhile, will break out their silver pants against the Seattle Seahawks after promoting their all-blue Color Rush set to primary home status in 2020. They’ve notably worn silver pants at least once every season since they were reintroduced to the uniform closet in 2022.
Other tidbits include the regular-season debut of the Jets’ new home uniforms and the regular-season debut of the Detroit Lions’ new silver pants, as they wore Honolulu blue jerseys over Honolulu blue pants in their season-opening home win over the Rams.
