How to get Hailey in The First Descendant

Must read

The process of getting Hailey in The First Descendant works a little differently from the usual character blueprint hunt. This Chill-inducing sniper-wielding Descendant is a fresh export of Season 1, and players can’t wait to try out her kit. Nexon is debuting a new way to tackle RNG issues with farming Hailey, but that doesn’t make it any less of a grind.

You can purchase this character from the shop with 900 Caliber, which means the minimum you have to spend is $19.99 to get the 1,060 Caliber bundle. This guide will go over exactly how you can acquire and craft Hailey for free.

How to unlock Hailey in The First Descendant (for free)

To get Hailey in The First Descendant, you’ll have to craft all three of her components: Enhanced Cells, Stabilizer, and Spiral Catalyst. Then, you’ll have to pair them up with 36 Hailey Data Chips, which is the new stand-in for a “Code.” Rather than gathering or acquiring blueprints outright, you’ll have to farm more granular “fragments” of the blueprints.

Below, we’ve shared how to do this for each part and mentioned the ingredients you’ll need to craft it. Note that the only guaranteed way to get fragments for Hailey’s components is through Invasion Dungeons, with the fastest clear speed threshold granting three of the same fragments.

Hailey Enhanced Cells

Crafting Hailey Enhanced Cells requires 36x Hailey Enhanced Cell DNA, which can be farmed from Invasion Dungeons (any region) or mission monsters on Magister Lab and Slumber Valley (Kingston, Hard). Additionally, you’ll need the following resources:

Hailey Stabilizer

To research Hailey Stabilizer, you’ll need 36x Hailey Stabilizer Components, obtainable from Invasion Dungeons (any region) or monsters in The Shelter (Vespers, Hard) and The Chapel (Echo Swamp, Hard). You’ll also have to use up the following resources to craft it:

Hailey Spiral Catalyst

Researching Hailey Spiral Catalyst requires 36x Hailey Spiral Catalyst Rings. These drop from Invasion Dungeons (any region) or monsters in The Asylum and Caligo Ossuary (Agna Desert, Hard). The other materials needed for this are:

Hailey Data Chips

Lastly, the Hailey Data Chips needed for the full character can be farmed from monsters in The Haven (Hagios, Hard) and Mystery’s End (White-Night Gulch, Hard) — or, again, from Invasion Dungeons, where they have a 25% chance of being dropped as a completion reward.

While mission monsters and Dungeon bosses can drop Hailey fragments, the chance of this is too low to rely on. The main way you get these parts is through Invasion Dungeons.

Completing each of these will grant you a 25% chance to acquire fragments for any of the four parts (Data Chip, Spiral Catalyst Rings, and Stabilizer Components, Reinforced Cell DNA). If you were to clear these expediently to beat the gold trophy threshold, you’re only looking at 3x of one part.

Given that you can only do four Invasion Dungeon runs in a day, this makes it only 12 guaranteed parts per day, which means you’ll need at least 12 days (144 parts), without counting for duplication from RNG.

This makes Hailey arguably one of the hardest characters to acquire in The First Descendant. Thankfully, there’s no rush, as Hailey’s red mods and best-in-slot Ultimate weapon (Frost Watcher) aren’t coming to the game before October.
