Former point guard Mike Bibby leaked the Sacramento Kings’ 2024-25 Classic Edition uniforms in a since-deleted Instagram story on Wednesday evening.
The purple uniforms are almost identical to what Bibby wore with the franchise from 2002-08, with an arched “Sacramento” wordmark above off-center numbers, as well as black and white side panels on the jerseys and shorts.
The only differences are the crown logo above the nameplate on the original jerseys being displayed on the waistband and the vintage Nike marks, which appear on all Classic Edition designs, as Reebok and adidas were the NBA’s official manufacturers at the time and didn’t put their marks on the uniforms.
The Kings last wore a Classic Edition set in 2019-20, when they celebrated their 35th anniversary with royal blue uniforms that featured a white script wordmark outlined in red, matching what the franchise wore on the road from 1990-94.
This, meanwhile, marks their 40th season in Sacramento, and since they wore 1986-90 Hardwood Classic uniforms in 2015-17, a 1994-2002-inspired City Edition set in 2021-22 and their current Statement set is inspired by their 1994-97 alternate uniforms, it makes sense for them to also honor this era of franchise history.
Four teams are expected to introduce Classic Edition uniforms this season, with the Golden State Warriors and Memphis Grizzlies confirmed to be joining Sacramento and the Toronto Raptors rumored to be, as well.
