The Minnesota football program unveiled three new uniforms on Friday morning, marking the first significant overhaul to the Golden Gophers’ look since the 2018 season.

The maroon home, white road and gold alternate jerseys all feature a traditional striping pattern on the sleeves, something that hasn’t appeared on the Gophers’ uniforms in nearly 50 years.

They also include solid numbers – gold numbers on the maroon jerseys and maroon numbers on the white and gold jerseys – in Minnesota’s current font, which is a nod to their 1999-2007 and 2012-17 sets.

There’s also a tab on the back collar that features the state outline on the outside and “Ski-U-Mah” on the inside. This tab debuted with NFL’s Los Angeles Rams in 2020 and made its way to college with the Oregon Ducks in 2021.

Interestingly, the Gophers did not introduce a gold jersey with their most recent set, opting for anthracite and (later) black versions instead, and chose to wear the 2012-17 version for select games in 2019-20.

Meanwhile, Minnesota retained its helmet design with this uniform update, including maroon, gold and white versions with the Block “M” on the sides, an oar handle center stripe and a nautical compass on the back.

The look is complete with matching maroon, gold and white pants, though they notably feature a different striping pattern than the sleeves. Additionally, the Gophers will continue to wear their black alternate uniform that debuted in 2022.
