Ottawa Senators Will Add a New Red Alternate Uniform for 2025-26 NHL Season – SportsLogos.Net News

Must read

Ottawa Senators president Cyril Leeder said the team will introduce a new red alternate uniform next season at a recent season ticket holder event. This is according to a post from user Ricky_Roby on our SportsLogos.Net Message Boards (You should join! It’s free!).

Ricky wrote, “At the Senators season ticket Q&A earlier this week, [Leeder] gave another update on the Ottawa alternate coming next season. He says it’s red and will have ‘Peace Tower elements.’”

The Senators have had five different alternate (or third) uniforms throughout their history, but none since they flipped back to their current expansion-inspired uniform set back in 2020-21; of those alternate uniforms, two have been red (including their most recent).

The Ottawa Senators used the Peace Tower in their pre-inaugural season promotional logos and uniforms

The most interesting note in Ricky’s post about Leeder’s comments is that there will be “Peace Tower elements.” The Peace Tower played a big part in the Senators’ temporary branding before the development of their inaugural season logos and uniforms; the team used it again as part of a shoulder patch worn on their black third jerseys from 2000 to 2007.

I doubt that they’d stop using the current Ottawa Senators logo as the main element of any of their uniforms so soon after bringing it back; I’d say it’s much more likely that we’ll see a new shoulder patch on these uniforms, and that would be the place to include “Peace Tower elements,” if any.

A Peace Tower logo was also worn on the shoulder of the Senators black third jersey from 2000 to 2007

The Senators wore a red jersey with the current logo on the front during the first round of Adidas’ Reverse Retro program in 2021, as seen in the photo at the top of this story. That jersey featured the Senators’ “S” shoulder patches and simple black striping but felt like the most natural third jersey style for the team’s modern-day uniform set. My gut tells me any new, red third jersey by the Senators would use this as a base to build off, with a few style tweaks to give it a distinct look.

Whatever it looks like, we probably won’t see the finished product (officially, anyway) until the Summer of 2025, and we’re a long way away from that. Until then, start working on some mockups!
