SEOUL, June 25 (Yonhap) — Seoul shares extended gains late Tuesday morning on the back of automobile and logistics shares.
The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) added 14.16 points, or 0.51 percent, to 2,778.89 as of 11:20 a.m.
Top carmaker Hyundai Motors added 4.09 percent and its sister Kia added 1.4 percent. Auto parts giant Hyundai Mobis moved up 6.09 percent.
Logistics firms also gained ground, with HMM advancing 1.05 percent and Hyundai Glovis moving up 3.88 percent. Korea Line jumped 10.13 percent.
Tech shares traded mixed, with Samsung Electronics rising 0.99 percent and No. 2 chipmaker SK hynix losing 0.45 percent.
The local currency was trading at 1,386.00 won against the U.S. dollar, up 3 won from the previous session’s close.
