Sister Wives: Kody Reveals Bizarre Cookie Jar Split as Money Woes Spin

Must read

Sister Wives star Kody Brown recently revealed what the Brown Family’s cookie jar looks like, which sounds different from what viewers were led to believe over the many years of episodes of his TLC series. This is the family account where all their earned income is pooled. But today, Kody makes things sound different from what the viewers first thought.

Sister Wives: Kody Brown in Follow the Leader

Kody Brown considered himself the patriarch of his once-polygamous marriage, calling himself the “leader”. He has also informed the Sister Wives viewers that he makes all the final decisions in the family.

Janelle Brown said she never liked the idea of a “patriarch”. But for years it looked as if Kody’s four wives followed the patriarchal format, at least to some degree. Kody prided Robyn Brown for being the “loyal” wife. He said she recognized his leadership in the family, more so than his other wives.

But, viewers learned early on that Kody handled the family finances. All five salaries from the Sister Wives series and any income from their other jobs went into the family account, which fans dubbed the cookie jar throughout the years.

Three Wives Bake, But Four Wives Enjoy the Cookies

Kody Brown’s three original wives gave the impression that they contributed much more than Robyn to the family finances. The three women had lucrative side ventures. But, as far as the Sister Wives viewers knew, Robyn was the only wife without a steady income stream outside of her TLC paycheck.

Meri Brown, Janelle Brown, and Christine Brown contributed to that family cookie jar until they severed themselves from the Sister Wives family. But it didn’t take long after the other wives jumped off for money woes to surface for Kody.

His daughter Gwendlyn Brown told the masses that Kody and Robyn live above their means. Then their house went up for sale and viewers surmised without the added income from the other wives, money was a problem.

Sister Wives: Kody Reconfigures Payouts Among Four Wives

The viewers were led to believe that the family cookie jar contained all the money needed to support four households. After the wives made their contributions from their lucrative gigs, the pot was there for electricity, heat, and groceries. Plus, they could pull from this family money pool anything else needed to support four households.

After all these years, Kody offers a different take on the money supply for the Sister Wives households. He said his wives each paid for their household bills. And he paid for other things out of his money.

Now, what he meant by this isn’t clear. Was he saying the four women pooled their money without him and this is where money for their household bills came from?  Or was he saying there was never a cookie jar?

Kody’s explanation seemed to suggest that he kept his own money. But he did say that he contributed to the upbringing of the kids. He paid for their cars and kept their fleet of vehicles insured.

Fans Jump All Over Kody’s Money Spiel

Kody Brown thought he was defending himself and his four wives by suggesting to the fans everyone pays their fair share. But that is not how the fans saw this.

So, Sister Wives fans jumped all over his new division of funds. The comments above reflect what many viewers had to say. As far as the fans see it, this leaves a lot of money for just one person, Papa Brown.

He said the wives pay for their household bills. So, it sounds like Kody’s deal is keeping a fleet of cars on the road. But it must be easier today as most of the kids are adults on their own.

As fans suggested, this likely means Kody supplies cars today to Robyn’s kids, the three older ones who drive. So, it looks like Kody Brown did away with the mythical cookie jar. He now has another story about how the Sister Wives ladies supported themselves all these years.

Sister Wives: Suspicious Timing?

Fans find this new reveal a tad suspicious since two of his ex-wives recently revealed they are going after him for money. Christine seeks child support, for her youngest, Truely Brown, who is 14. She also asks the court for retroactive child support payments.

Then, Janelle got a round of applause for openly sharing that she plans to “lawyer up”, She plans to go after the money that’s rightfully hers but tied up in Coyote Pass.

Plus, she is looking at the money she lent them to purchase Robyn’s home. Well, it is a safe bet to say the cookie jar era is over, whether Kody Brown wants it that way or not. There’s no one left to contribute, except for Kody Brown and Robyn Brown on the TLC series.
