Riyan Parag smashed a six off Vidwath Kaverappa during his counter-attacking knock in the Duleep Trophy on Day 1 (Thursday, September 12). The match between India A and India D is being played at the Rural Development Trust Stadium in Anantapur.
The powerful shot came off the 12th over of India A’s innings. Kaverappa bowled an overpitched delivery and Parag pressed forward to loft it through the line with the meet of his bat as it sailed over long-off out of the ground. It was also the first six of the match.

Riyan Parag walked in when India A lost their openers in the 10th over. The right-handed batter smashed 37 runs off 29 balls with the help of one six and five boundaries. The Assam batter was dismissed as Devdutt Padikkal completed an easy catch at first slip off Arshdeep Singh.
Parag recently made his ODI debut during India’s tour of Sri Lanka. He picked up three wickets on his 50-over debut. The part-time spinner also returned with three wickets in as many games in the T20I series against the Islanders. He had returned with scores of 30 and 31 in the previous match for India A against India B in the Duleep Trophy.

A clinical bowling performance from India D helped them dominate India A on Day 1.
At the time of writing, India A were 93-5 in their first innings, with Kumar Kushagra and Shams Mulani at the crease. Kaverappa has been the pick of the bowlers, returning with two wickets apiece.
India A lost their previous game against India B by 76 runs. Mayank Agarwal is leading the team in skipper Shubman Gill’s absence.
The senior member of Team India, barring Sarfaraz Khan, has begun their training for the two-match Test series against Bangladesh, which starts at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on September 19.
