The full release of V Rising brought with it a ton of new features and gameplay modes, including the Rift Incursions, world events that take place every now and then in certain locations on the map. They offer a fair number of rewards upon completion.
To start a world event, you will first need to look for it in the Ruins of Mortium. When an event is active, it will appear on the ruins. Once you interact with it, there will be an indicator on the map signifying that an incursion is now active. You will be able to take part in it only if you have made the Eye of Mortium after beating General Elena the Hollow.

How do Rift Incursions work in V Rising?
Rift Incursions in V Rising are world events, where you will face off against hordes of Dracula’s vampires, monsters, and other enemies. The enemies will change depending on the event that is currently active. Your main goal is to destroy the crystals. However, you will need to get through the enemies that are guarding them first.
Rift Incursions will usually occur at a much higher level. You will need to be at least level 57 and above to participate in them. These encounters are incredibly challenging, and you must have a good build to be successful.
However, completing Rift Incursions is recommended if you want to effectively scale your character into the late game.
Why should you participate in V Rising Rift Incursions?
Once you have completed a Rift Incursion by destroying the crystals, you will get a lot of Stygian Shards and Ancestral Weapon Shards. These shards are valuable for making Ancestral weapons.
However, this world event is not the only place you can get Ancestral Shards. You can also buy them from vendors in Mortium by spending Stygian Shards.
