WWE has a history of controversial moments that weren’t part of the script, and Becky Lynch was involved in one famous incident in 2016. The Man was challenging Charlotte Flair for the Divas Championship at the Royal Rumble.
Ric Flair was managing his daughter Charlotte at the time and was at ringside for the match. The Nature Boy used his usual dirty tricks to try and distract Becky, including kissing her on the lips.
Becky Lynch slapped the WWE Hall of Famer after the kiss. The distraction allowed Charlotte to regain control, and her father later caused another distraction that led to The Queen successfully retaining her title.
The controversial incident wasn’t part of the script, and it was later edited out of the event’s WWE Network replay. The kiss was removed, and instead, Ric turns Becky around to help Charlotte.
Becky Lynch commented on the incident years later and explained how Vince McMahon was legitimately furious. She claims the company’s former chairman ‘lost his mind in gorilla.’
The story between Becky and Ric doesn’t end there, as there was real-life beef between the pair years later. He accused Big Time Becks of using ‘The Man’ nickname without his permission, and she hit back by calling him ‘sad.’
Neither of them is with the promotion anymore, as Naitch departed in June 2021. Lynch’s contract with the company expired earlier this year, and she remains a free agent.
WWE RAW star Seth Rollins claims Ric Flair apologized to Becky Lynch after their spat
Seth Rollins, Becky Lynch’s partner, gave an update on his wife’s real-life feud with Ric Flair after tensions died down. The Visionary told Pat McAfee on The Pat McAfee Show in February 2023 that their beef was ‘squashed.’
The former WWE World Heavyweight Champion claimed Ric had issues with Becky, not the other way around. He said the ex-WCW star apologized, and they had a ‘nice moment’ at RAW XXX.
Becky Lynch was amid a breakout period when she started using The Man nickname. It propelled her into the main event picture and helped make her a megastar. She won the RAW and SmackDown Women’s Championships in the WrestleMania 35 main event against Charlotte Flair and Ronda Rousey.
That was WrestleMania’s first-ever women’s main event and one of many memorable moments during Lynch’s ‘Man’ run. She later used a different gimmick, ‘Big Time Becks,’ but reverted back in her most recent run.
Fans await the 37-year-old’s return to WWE and pro wrestling. Her last appearance in the company came in June when she lost to Liv Morgan for the Women’s World Championship on RAW.
