WWE champion’s heel run has backstage officials “incredibly thrilled”

Must read

WWE has built some good heel champions in recent years. A current titleholder’s performance has backstage officials incredibly thrilled if reports are to be believed.

Roxanne Perez has had a memorable run with the NXT Women’s Championship around her waist. She has worked harder to develop her heel character after winning the title at NXT Stand & Deliver over 150 days ago.

Perez’s latest title defense came against Jaida Parker at NXT No Mercy. She successfully retained her title, after which Giulia came out to confront the 22-year-old star.

Fighful Select has now shed some light on the backstage reaction to Roxanne Perez’s current heel run. The report states that many WWE officials have been “incredibly thrilled” with the 22-year-old star’s character development as a heel during her current title reign.

Roxanne Perez turned heel earlier this year and went on to defeat Lyra Valkyria for the NXT Women’s Championship. The victory kickstarted her second run with the prestigious title.

WWE has kept Perez on the NXT brand despite her appearance on RAW after WrestleMania XL. Fightful Select had earlier reported that officials were planning to keep the 22-year-old on the developmental brand to further work on her character at the time.

Giulia will likely have her first WWE match against Roxanne Perez

Jaida Parker had a strong showing at NXT No Mercy. After her loss, Giulia debuted to confront Roxanne Perez and earned a huge ovation from fans.

Giulia returned on the episode of NXT after No Mercy to confront the women’s champion once again. She took down Chelsea Green before challenging Perez for the NXT Women’s Championship on the October 1 CW premiere episode in Chicago.

WWE could give Giulia a match against Chelsea Green on NXT to get her started. However, the creative team might decide to hold off and simply give her a big title match as her first contest in the company.

Fans will also see CM Punk appear on the NXT show in Chicago. He could accompany the 22-year-old to the ring for the match and appear as her mentor to help her win the contest.
